CNC Machinist – Second Shift

Tool and Die manufacturer for almost 60 years is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to work Second Shift.  T
he CNC Machinist is responsible for set-up, operation, and running components through the CNC machines per print.  The qualified candidate would report to the Second Shift Team Lead.


This is an in-person, Second shift position with possible overtime based on Company needs.  Expected hours are 40 per week. Hours worked are flexible with either five 8-hour days or four 10-hour days.  There is a 16% shift premium as well.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Produce parts off of the CNC machines: set tools, make adjustments to offsets, produce variety of close tolerance parts per print; little supervision required.
  • Position and secure work piece(s) in machine; position tools in relationship to work piece; double check the programs during operation.  Ex. Checking the first line of canned cycle.
  • Post programs on the shop floor machines; make minor changes to a program in our CAM software on the floor, if needed.
  • Produce variety of close tolerance parts off of the CNC machines per print.
  • Perform drilling, tapping, reaming, milling, boring and other operations over a wide range of surfaces, depths and diameters in a variety of different materials.
  • Includes a requirement to plan the work, determine cutting sequences, develop holding and chucking fixtures, adjust feeds and speeds and cut depths and select appropriate cutting tools using the print part, sketches or verbal description of the part to be made.
  • Follow CNC processes for machining the piece.
  • Use of a variety of precision measuring devices to position part, check dimensions during machining and check final part for accuracy.
  • Ability to program basic 2-d programs with the current software; understanding of how to double check a program after it’s completed.
  • Ability to assist in 5-axis area when needed.
  • Train apprentices’ effectively.
  • Assist in development and implementation of procedures and controls to promote efficient lean operations of the organization and ensure the groups follow those procedures and controls.
  • Ability to multi-task a few jobs.
  • Ensure the completion of all paperwork, records, documents, etc.
  • Able to work overtime when requested to meet the needs of customer timelines.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Support the company's quality policy, ISO 9001, 5S practices, LEAN and world class manufacturing initiatives.
  • Commits to the corporate goals, mission, and vision.
  • Regular physical attendance is required.
  • Travel, as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications Necessary:
  • High school education or GED.
  • Communication skills.
  • Proficient with math and blueprints.
  • Three years experience in CNC job shop environment.
Preferred Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Journeyman’s card in CNC and/or tool making.
  • Cad-Cam knowledge
  • 5 years+ machining experience

Post offer drug screen and background check required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $35.00 per hour
